Scandinavian books can be depressing yet uplifting, and this is one of those. I don't want to give away the plot, but I'll say that this is a book about the sadness of racism and the happiness of overcoming it. It may make you cry with frustration and cry with commiseration. A very well written and translated book that transcends national boundaries. It captures the reader's attention and holds it tight.

Discover Karin Fossum
Both mysterious and touching "The Indian Bride" is another of Fossum's excellent mysteries. This Norwegian writer introduced Inspector Sejer to the US with her novel "Don't Look Back" and these excellent procudurals will have you following all her series. Highly recommended.
