I purchased my original copy of this cookbook from the Stars and Stripes Bookstore in Heilbronn ,Germany, as a very young Military Wife back in 1972. Even though I have collected cookbooks for decades, this was always my favorite through all the growing up years of my children. This is the book that I tucked their little drawings "To Mom", or miscellaneous handwritten recipes jotted on varying scraps of paper from friends and family between the pages. Sadly, I lost my cherished and well-loved copy in a house fire in the nineties, and I have looked for another copy in every used bookstore, yard sale, antique shop, etc., that I visited for many years. I was so thrilled and excited to find a slightly newer version of my old friend on Alibris, and I gave it to myself for Christmas....best gift ever! Try this cook Book! It is categorized and formatted differently than any other Cook Book I have ever found. Rather than looking under "Casseroles" or "Cookies" to find a recipe, you will look up the main INGREDIENT you would like to cook with, for instance, "Ground Beef", or even "Artichokes" ! This Cook Book will become a trusted family friend for you just like it did for me.
