Start without the expectation that you're buying an anatomy textbook, and you can't go wrong. The book is organized by bodily systems--muscular, skeletal, etc. Beautiful illustrations, computer graphics, photos--together with a very informative and well-written text--take you on a journey through the body much as a traditional "coffee-table" book might take you through the British Isles.
The accompanying DVD does not reprise the text. Instead, it gives new views of the material, including rotating 3-D graphics. The use of overlays makes it easy to see the spatial relationship of the elements of one system to those in another.

Wow!
I have several anatomy books but this one is wonderful for the younger reader as well. Great illustrations and the text is simple and easy to follow. Good for adults and anyone who wants to marvel at the workings of the human body.
