Whether or not you are aware of the condition these women suffer with and what a few doctors are doing to save their lives, you should read this book.
Fistula is the result of injuries caused by childbirth when the mother is still a child herself, or because qualified medical help is not available when for one reason or another labor is prolonged until the baby ends up dying in the womb.
While the subject matter is painful, the women who are able to get to the clinic the book is based on have uplifting stories to tell about the life-changing medical care the clinic provided them.
Written by the crusading Doctor herself, this book should be required reading by every woman who lives in a privileged society such as ours.
