More than a guide, the book takes a 'novel' approach to enjoying more than a hike - a good feeling results from a pre-hike reading of a specific area, as well as an enrichment to 'top it off' during the actual hike.
I was left with a sense of a well-done effort on the author's behalf, as well as a 'warm and fuzzy' for each and all of the hikes that I undertook - all due to the shear enjoyment that his writing gave to each area.
Makes me not only want to read more, but to do it, combined with actually reading as I experience the hikes themselves.
