A male/female super hero team
Being a boy in the early sixties, I did find Hawkman being a bit odd with those wings as there were other heros who could fly without wings at all. But I liked him. Essentially the same character that shared stories with the Golden Age Flash in the forties, what really made him unique was his partner, Hawkgirl.
My favorite story in here is the one where they're reintroduced in the silver age. They fight a monster with two brains and Hawkman and Hawkman have to do their parts in order to be successful. One confusing supporting character will get dropped. A curator who has the hots for Carter Hall who has to pretend he's single so she won't suspect he's actually Hawkman who's married to Hawkgirl.
Hawkman had his own Commisioner Gordon but he's also a policeman from Thanajar. DC at this time had a Flash Gordon clone called Adam Strange and the last story is a co-adventure in the Mystery in Space comic book. Hawkman and Hawkgirl would fly off to their own comic book. They still had the basic flaw of where it put their unusual weapons and cumbersome costumes, a plane doesnt' really work which is probably why they remained secondary heroes.
But again, they were the first superhero couple and would love to see a show/movie starring them.
