From that night on, things really began to happen to Freddie, and the best of them came when he gained the friendship and patronage of Miss Maggie Hewitt, who was to play a major role in shaping his life and fortunes. But he would still need all his luck and resourcefulness to escape the long shadow cast by Roderick Gallagher, whose power and influence threatened all who crossed his path . . .

I love all of Catherine Goodson's books. Have read 35 of them since Janurary of this year. However our library has only 29 so I have either to request them or buy them.i visited with my cousin for two weeks who was living in Harrogate at the time. It is a lovely city, filled with all kinds of blooming trees and flowers and was anxious to read the story. It was exciting and descriptive. Well worth the read. She writes so descritively that you are there with the characters and places.
