Seller's Description:
1974 Werner, Jane THE GIANT GOLDEN MOTHER GOOSE NY: Golden Press, c1948 twentysixth printing 1974 96pp illustrated in color Alice and Martin Provensen Sm folio Previous owner's gift notation on first page (dated 1975), lower corner tip of front cover rubbed, lower edge of spine bumped, front cover hinge is tender but intact Overall an attractive Very Good++ hardcover.
Elves and Fairies is my favorite book from childhood, starting me on a life-long love of Garth Williams' drawings, so I was very glad to find it reprinted.
Unfortunately the illustrations are a pale shadow of the original book, which, after more than 50 years, still glows with beautiful colors.
While I am sorry that the children I gift it to will miss the full effect, I hope the stories and pictures will still stir a love for the World of Fairy!
