There is no way I could read this book before reviewing it - there are 1182 pages, not counting the index. I know something about Chinese medicine, but I find even the beginning pages about the basic theory of TCM useful. And the book has everything else. This is not a text I will put away on a shelf, but one I will return to again and again for reference. The writing is clear, and the diagrams and pictures are useful. I think when I become more accomplished in TCM, this will remain my one most essential book. I only wish it had material on animals besides people.
