Not illustrated. 1915 Excerpt: ...universal race sui An important suit is pending in New York. Mrs. Margaret Singer, a writer on sex hygiene, some time ago wrote a pamphlet advocating race suicide. Her articles on the subject in the "Call" (a Socialist daily) were finally stopped by the Post Office Department. Mrs. S. then started a paper called the "Woman Rebel." This was in turn suspended by the federal authorities, and she was indicted on several counts, including the sending of obscene matter through the mails and publishing an article favoring assassination. Released without bail, Mrs. Sanger fled to England, where the discussion of birth control is practically unhindered. There she wrote a pamphlet, entitled: "Family Limitation." Her friends are said to have circulated 100,000 copies of this immoral publication. Her husband had several copies in his possession, but said he was not circulating the pamphlet. However, a man calling himself a friend of Mrs. Sanger, induced him to hand over a oopy. Shortly afterward the man re-appeared, accompanied by Mr, Anthony Cornstock, who arrested Mr, Sanger under the statute providing a fine of 1,000 or a year's imprisonment for distribution of such literature. Sanger's motion for trial before a jury was denied. His wife is said to be coming home to atand trial on the charge against her. According to the "Survey," the Free Speech League of Nev York, whose president is Leonard D. Abbott, of the Ferrer School of Anarchy, is raising a fund to cover the expenses of the trial. cide.
