Not Stated. Good. An uncommon first edition of this military history of the Battles of Newbury. First edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and fourteen plates, including two folding plans. Collated complete. A detailed history of the first and second Battles of Newbury during the English Civil War, with military transactions and reference to chief incidents from that stormy period. As well as an account of the Siege of Donnington Castle. Written by Reverend Walter Baptist Money, an English clergyman, historian and cricketer. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine and the odd mark to the boards. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound with pages 66 to 71 detached but present. Sections of pages 67/68 and 69/70 have been cut out from the text. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Closed tears to each of the folding plans due to prior handling. Age toning to the endpapers with a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Good.
