The Earl of Bristol accused Buckingham before the House of Lords of various crimes and misdemeanours and the House of Commons had impeached him before the Lords; and so strong was their language against him, that Sir John Eliot compared him, for lust, ambition, and rapacity, to Sejanus, the profligate minister of Tiberius Caesar.
