This spectacularly speculative thriller novel, published two decades ago, raised hackles in the British press. It purports to detail how four different SAS officers were assassinated by an elite company of hitmen over a period of years as blood-feud revenge by an elderly and displaced Oman sheik for the deaths of his four sons during the communist uprisings two decades earlier. This team of hitmen are recognized and opposed by a secret organization of retired SAS men, the "Feather Men," who set off to stop the killings. The author, himself, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, alleges himself to be the fifth target, saved in the nick of time. The book is deep in research and technical detail and the four SAS men allegedly killed are clearly identified, with photos. It's a very interesting read ... and maybe there's some truth in it all.

Revenge for revenge!
The story, purportedly true, revolves around the activities of an assassination squad hired to kill - preferably in accidents - the killers of a sheiks sons. The people being assassinated are members of the British SAS and their team, the Feather Men, in turn hunt down the assassins. The story is detailed but holds you in its thrall: as the accidents are planed and executed and the Feather Men track the assassins. Whether true or not it is a good read for those who like the mystery/revenge genre.
