Very Good. Book. Folio-over 12-15" tall. Original green cloth hard covers, with gilt titles to front and spine. Oblong folio. Patterned endpapers. 12 full-page wood engravings, with numerous other smaller examples including initials. vi, 54+2pp. Fading to spine and edges; covers stained and bumped, with cloth worn through, at extremities. Text edges darkened, with some staining. Otherwise, internally, clean, tight and unmarked, with a few short closed tears to the margins of text pages. Very neat--still a sound copy in quick good nick.

Red and white illustrated endpapers; 54 pp. BW plates. A calendar year, each month represented by a bw engravings of an annual event that would occur on a farm during that month. Each plate is full-page, and there are smaller bw figures within the text (also by Leighton) describing each plate and representative farm life. Beautiful plates. In spite of the ink stamps, some are suitable for framing. All can be enjoyed within this amazing book that brings together art and nature.
