As one who holds Episcopal rank as a Prince in the Lord's Church, I feel at this point in my life and ministry, that I must offer a treatise on what I believe and why. There comes a time in everyone's life when they are challenged and often changed in their belief system. Life has a way of testing those beliefs and forcing you to dig deeper to find answers that are often elusive OR become content and reach a conclusion about certain matters. I once heard it said that "a conclusion is a place that a person goes when they stop thinking." I must say that I totally agree with this statement. We must never stop thinking or stop asking questions. However, sometimes it seems easier to just accept what we have been told throughout the years as truth without challenging its validity. Over the past 10 years I have been quietly re-assessing and in many ways re-evaluating what I thought I knew about God and His Church. It was after much prayer and a desire to bring clarity to others that I felt led and inspired to write this book. Albert Einstein said, "Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results." In the church world, or at least the streams that I've been a part of, we have a tendency to operate with that concept. It seems very difficult for us to not only embrace change, but to even consider it. 20 years ago I began making the observation that many of the church habits and rituals that we've been doing isn't working, but no one wanted to address it or even acknowledge it. "The Evolution of A Bishop" is the personal journey of my road to change and how it has affected my life and ministry. May the words penned therein enlighten, enrich and bless you.
