I guess if you have never painted and want to learn via a book this might be helpful. I'm not new to it since I have taken a few art classes and watched people like the late Bob Ross etc on a cable channel. I learned really nothing from this book. For me it was a disappointment. It's meant for beginners only. I'd say the best books I have gotten are ones from the late Helen VanWyk. There are still books in print and they are much more informative for beginners for even the next level up.
