Carkeet's Error Hits the Mark.
Witty. Insightful. Well constructed. A charming, candid tale of life in an upper middle-class mid-western family. A very enjoyable and fairly quick read with more than its share of surprises. There are sexual references - as almost any credible family story must include; these are very artfully done, and not at all gratuitous. Carkeet visits an amazing array of topics in one story: child psychology, forensic criminology, business economics, academia, foreign trade, social status, and his own favorite, linguistics. These are all knit together with strong yarns of love, the best familial kind and some of the dysfunctional sort.
