EQUIP's three-part approach includes training in: -- Moral Judgment -- Anger Management/Correction of Thinking Errors -- Prosocial Skills Students involved in the EQUIP program participate in two types of group sessions -- Equipment Meetings (in which the leader teaches specific skills that are demonstrated, discussed, and practiced) and Mutual Help Meetings (in which the leader coaches students as they use the skills they've learned to help each other). The authors provide information necessary to establish a successful program, including details on how to get a group started, how to maximize group participation, how to deal with negative group members, and more. The appendices contain two assessment instruments that are invaluable for assessing youths' moral judgment and social skill levels, the Sociomoral Reflection Measure -- Short Form questionnaire and the Inventory of Adolescent Problems -- Short Form.
