The first book of the Heiress series is terrific - the first surprise is that the adventure is largely in France during the French Revolution. This is the most impressive series that Roberta Gellis has written since the Chronicles of Rosalynde. This series takes place during the Regency period rather than the Medieval period of the Rosalynde series. Although this series does not paint such a panoramic view of the period as the earlier series, the human view is just as enticing and riveting. This is great! I find that the growing relationship between Roger and Leonie is fascinating and realistic. Definitely worth reading.
