Seller's Description:
None. Very Good. A smartly bound copy of this first-hand account of emigrating to Canada by Francis Bond Head, the Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada during the 1837 rebellion. Bond Head's work is both an anecdotal narrative, and a work of political history. He claims in the preface to have 'buoyed up' the elements of political history with 'a few light sketches, solely written to make a dull subject fly'. Â With the bookplate of Abel Smith to the front pastedown of Woodhall Park. Woodhall Park is based in Hertfordshire and is now the home of Heath Mount School. The property has been in possession of the Abel Smith family for over two centuries. Â A lovely copy of this first-hand account of the Canadian colonies. In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing to the joints and extremities. A few small marks to the boards. Bookplate to the front pastedown, Abel Smith. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Scattered spots to the first and last few pages. Very Good.
