This comical and frightening object that you hold in your hands was supposed to be a preface, but things went awry. I became a helpless witness to what I felt was an attempt at censorship." It is delicate for me to use this word, but in the end, that is what it was. And that is what motivated the writing of this improbable object. I will not dwell here on the facts and their sequence-that is not really the role of a preface. The book tells it.
