This work focuses on the environmental development of three African capital cities - Accra, Harare and Gaborone - and their water and waste services. All are former colonial British capitals, and share similarities in their relative affluence amongst other African nations; however the contributors establish that each has a deteriorating urban environment despite efforts to provide public services.
