The performances of historically oriented hornist Ursula Paludan Monberg would be reason enough to acquire this music: she's one of the few true masters of the instrument, and anyone avoiding the album because they "don't like" the natural horn can set the objections aside. Beyond this, the music, though modest, has quite a few charms. Listen to the charming Sinfonia da camera of Leopold Mozart, which has a strong Wolfgang Amadeus flavor, and move on to the two anonymous concertos, apparently from Sweden: compact and economical little works. The pieces by Haydn and Telemann challenge the hornist to find a balance with seemingly impossible duet partners -- a recorder...
