But the subject has awakened but little inter est in the historian; and as some of the ruins that were then surveyed have since disappeared, the writer now offers this little sketch, accompanied by plans of the Mission and presidio, made from the original surveys, in the hope that it will create a greater interest in the lives and works of the founders of this beautiful city.
