Since 1985, White Cliffs Media has been one of the best resources available for quality information about world music. While other companies focus on flashy marketing and quick compilations, we focus on the hard and detailed work of finding the best scholars and performers in various traditions. We are proud to have worked with some of the best traditional African artists bar none, including Abubakari Lunna and Godwin Agbeli. We are equally proud of the new artists we're adding to our roster. Arthur Hull is an important figure not only among drummers, but in modern culture in general. He spreads the love of rhythm and community wherever he goes. Omar Thiam is a consummate artist of the Serer people, one of the most ancient ethnic groups of Senegal. This "tambour majeure" (drum major) of Kaolack has an international reputation as a master of Sabar drum, dance, and song. Vietnamese scholar and performer Phong Nguyen completed a prize-winning dissertation at the Sorbonne, and we are lucky to work with him on an important new series on Vietnamese music. White Cliffs' mission is to share the love of music, drumming, and the sense of community it brings. As Arthur Hull says, "Share the spirit".
