A Revised Edition is Needed
As part of the Anatomy of the Ship series, it lacks the detail and quality of others volumes, but shows an improvement over Ross's earlier work on the DE England. The engine room and steering gear is sparse and missing, which is a disappointment since the drawings are available. I recently turned down an opportunity to purchase his work on the CVE Gambier Bay, but could not justify the price for what I felt I could expect from his previous works. Despite this, it is the best such book I've found on the Fletcher class. Like many of the others of this series, it is a shame that there seems to be no interest in republishing these unique books except for the sailing vessels.
As with other books in this series, the difference in quality and quantity has no bearing on what they were sold for. Ross's books just do not compare with those with twice the number of pages and at least that much in the quality of the drawings. However, something is better than nothing.
