This publication contains a diverse range of dentistry topics which afford the reader a fascinating glimpse into historic dentistry practices and dental issues in the mid-nineteenth century. This volume covers a wide range of subjects including the thirty-first annual meeting of the American Dental Association, and the history of dentistry. In addition, some of the topics covered in the text are more academic in nature, such as: bone grafting, the best methods for preventing infection of operative wounds, and micro-organisms in the human mouth. Other topics focus on the administrative aspect of dentistry: conducting dental societies, patent rights, and an article on the forty-seventh annual meeting of the Mississippi Valley Association of Dental Surgeons. And, as expected, several of the articles in the register offer modern readers a level of entertainment via comparison to the past: rules for bathing, cocaine injections, and how the voice in female singers is affected by gynecological disorders.
