I am sorry to say that I was somewhat disappointed in the first book in this new series by an author whose earlier works I had admired. I had enjoyed his earlier series set in Northern Iceland since I had recently visited Iceland and had more than a passing interest in the culture of his mysterious country.
I found the main character of " A Darkness," a female detective about to retire, quite pathetic and, without risking a spoiler alert, I thought the conclusion of this book was highly implausible and not well conceived.
