Rurik, a tall blond Dane, is hired to kill the whale. Meanwhile Chevalier Galeran has been summoned by church elders to investigate the unpopular Abbot Eustache of Jumieges. On his arrival, Galeran hears of the horrific death of a bride on her wedding night, drawing him deeper into the strange and corrupt world of the Abbey of Jumieges.
