The Dark Horse This book is not a historical recounting of the 2011 General and Regional Election campaign in Guyana; nor is it a chronicle of the events of that exciting period in our country's history. Dark Horse is a snap-shot of my personal journey from exile to advocate. It is a private journey back to a nostalgic time and the events that brought about a minority government and a majority opposition in the National Assembly of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. David Arthur Granger proved to be a true Dark Horse and his candidacy in the PNCR primaries and A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) national campaign captured the imagination of a nation. Granger, an unknown political commodity, was able to hold a coalition of five political parties and several interest groups together and in less than five months, this politically untested retired Army Brigadier General became a house-hold name and a symbol of hope and change. The APNU 2011 Campaign was a five-month sprint that in my opinion changed Guyanese politics forever. It certainly changed the course of my life and Dark Horse (letters from the campaign trail 2011 - Guyana) examines some of the views expressed by me on that rollercoaster ride.
