If you want to know how a bill REALLY becomes law, this is the book to read! Written by a former legislative staff person who was originally as ignorant of how the system really works as many citizens, it's as easy to read and understand as government can get. Recommended to me by a Senator, I've purchased several copies over the years to share with friends who are interested in the legislative process. I also took the time to look up the author and we emailed back and forth briefly concerning a couple of questions I had, after reading the book. This is just the best there is - and I've done a LOT of reading on how government works - both in classes and for pleasure.
