Convoy war action from WWII
This English made film starring Jack Hawkins is hard to find in a dvd playable in the U.S. region. The shipboard scenes are as claustrophobic as you'd imagine on single-gunned small escort vessel. The acting is believable and the action, interspliced with actual combat and training footage, is gripping. The special effects of the staged wolf pack attacks in this 1953 film are obviously done with models, but the viewer becomes so immersed in the life of the officers and crew of the Compass Rose, it doesn't really matter to this fan of this way above average war flick.
