Near Fine. Size: 16mo 6"-7" tall; This is the reissue of the 1697 edition. Scarcely available to the trade in any of the early editions, and none available of this edition. The title page continues thus: "With Directions concerning the Government of a Council. And also the Office of an Embassador, &c. Published from the Original Manuscripts in Spanish, which were procured by the Right Honourable Sir William Trumbull's Grandfather, Envoy at Brussels in the Reign of King James the First. A most handsome volume indeed, bound originally in octavo hardcover format, [4], 107, [1], 247, [1] pp. List of errata on page 247. Includes one page of advertisements for the publisher. Front paste down has the bookplate of The Hope Trust, Edinburgh. Internally fine and bright, with new brown linen cloth over boards, 1/4 leather-backed, with gilt lettering on spine by master binder Pat Bruno of Sacramento, California.
