Any book by Crescent Dragonwagon seems to be a treasure and I have no plans to ever part with ANY of mine, as long as we all shall live. We opened this book and found it to be in brand new condition! Hubs immediately baked us a fabulous blue cornbread, Vermont-style as soon as it was out of the shipping pkg. Great reading, too, since the author is a fun and talented writer as well as a creative chef! If you're a fan of cornbread in any form and lucky enough to find a copy of this book... just get it!

Totally Rewarding
I was a little hesitant about ordering this book--an entire cookbook about cornmeal? But now that I've actually explored the extent of the content, and baked from it, I'm thoroughly sold. It's a treasure from an author who obviously loves her subject and has done her homework. It will be used lovingly and often at my house. Be sure to learn about the mesquite flour, and try out the Aztec muffins.

No corny cookbook
I really enjoyed this cookbook. Ms Dragonwagon really knows and loves her cornbreads and has compiled a great book of recipes and information.

Excellent Book
Dragonwagon helped me find or reconstruct my late mother's great skillet baked southern cornbread. This was the cornbread that I was raised on, and is very different from what you find in mixes or restaurants. I have missed it for years, and now I have it back.
His insight that southern cornbread and northern cornbread was different is what made me buy his book in the first place. Mother made southern cornbread, and that is the recipe I needed. I ate the proof last night and it was absolutely delicious
Not only did he help me find the cornbread recipie I needed, but he also taught me the proper way to season, use and care for a cast iron skillet. His method is easier and better than the one I got from a book exclusively on cast iron skillets. The results were perfect the first time.
I would recommend this book to anyone with a taste for or interst in cornbread.
