The Todd Rutledge and Hamish novels are uniformly good. The characters are superbly drawn, the plots realistic and true and the flashes of the history of WWI always engrossing and often harrowing. I'm reading them in the order of publication and I haven't been disappointed yet.

Once again, Charles Todd's plot takes many twists and turns, leading me (the reader) astray and to a surprising conclusion. Although the writing is concise, the characters are well developed. I especially enjoy Hamish's commentary.
