This is a collection consisting of several short stories and two novels by the important African-American writer, Nella Larsen. Unfortunately, the print is so smudgy that reading it became a chore. I read the short stories, gave up on "Quicksand," half-way through, but read all of "Passing." The latter, by itself, earns Ms Larsen a place as one of our greatest twentieth-century American writers. It's about a uniquely American problem, and one that no Euro-American author could ever address with the authority that she does.
I heartily recommend reading Nella Larsen, but give this edition a "pass" (no pun intended).
