What can I say about Mary K. Greer that hasn't already been said? She is a legend! Reversals are possibly one of the most discussed Tarot Topics of all time and people are still split down the middle about them. Until you've educated yourself on reversals you really shouldn't just unilaterally decide to ignore them. Even if you thought you'd NEVER read reversals, get this book, then decide. The book is 267 pages divided up like so: Introduction, Foreword by Barbara Moore (another living Tarot legend). Chapter 1 A Different Point of View. Chapter 2- Using Reversals, Major Arcana upright AND reversed interpretations as well as the ancient traditional meanings of the cards both upright and reversed. The Minor Arcana interpretations upright and reversed, as well as the ancient traditional meanings upright and reversed. Then onto the Court Cards (same thing). Oh, and EACH card interpretation, both upright and reversed, also looks at what the card means for you healthwise, and spiritually, as well as what it means if you are "projecting" this card onto another person involved in the situation. Believe me when I tell you this book is chock full of all things Tarot. This book is perfect for both the absolute beginner and most advanced tarot reader.
Chapter 3 is about spreads. The rest of the book is different appendixes such as Reversed Keywords, Suit and Number Keywords, Elemental Dignities, and The Herione's Journey.
You may have thought that reading reversals simply meant reading the upside down card as the "negative" attributes of the card, or as the qualities of that particular card being "blocked" or diminished. In this book Greer examines TWELVE different ways of reading reversed cards, she advises testing them all out yourself and deciding which one's work for you, which one's don't, and also taking a look at why you like particular style's versus other ones.
The book is an easy and interesting read, not boring, dense, or dogmatic. I couldn't put it down. If you have even a glimmer of a tarot interest you simply MUST have this book in your arsenal.

Tarot Cards meaning when the card /s come up rever
This book focuses on the meanings of tarot card readings when cards come up reversed for the querent.
The book also gives definetion on the cards in their upright positions. Most readers when giving a reading and the card is reversed just tell the querent that the meaning is either more intense or less intense depending on the card and the position it comes up in the reading.
The writer: Mary Greer is an exceptional expert in tarot; and her insight invaluable. The meanings she gives to reversal are indepth, but of course like astrology the influences are about the meanings of individual cards rather than how they would be denoted in an actual reading, and as a result, limited. However, for one who is just beginning to study and do complimentary readings for practice it is a great reference book. There are some sample readings also denoted to give the reader an idea as to how a reversal works.
Overall from what I understood from Mary Greers earlier works she was not one big on reading reversals, but usually the querent would want the reading 'as is' and as with any product or service the end result is "The customer is always right," as the customer is paying for the service, even on a complimentary basis as if the querent likes the reading and feels it is accurate s/he will give recommendations to others.
I feel it is a good read, and one can get a lot out of this book.
