This English language translation from the Polish gives us the history behind the stories told by Nobel prize winning author Henryk Sienkiewicz in his Polish Trilogy: With Fire and Sword, The Deluge, Pan Michael. Read the novels first. Then follow up with Commonwealth of Both Nations. I recommend the translations of Sienkiewicz's novels of Jeremiah Curtin because of Curtin's footnotes and explanations. I also recommend the three films of the three stories directed by Jerzy Hoffman which are now readily available off the usual internet outlets: Amazon, Alibris, ebay.
