The perforations engage in the pins of the sprocket wheels, and the film is thereby drawn downwards through the gate at the rate of 6 in. (equal to eight pictures to one movement) for each revolution of the handle. Theoretically, the handle should be turned at the rate of two revolutions per second, which would bring I ft.
