The willingness to torture and slaughter men, women and children, and savagely brutalize all their animals in the name of a just yet merciful God, strikes them as outright criminal. "The Lord works in mysterious ways" and the doctrine of "Free Will," are considered mere excuses as to not hold God accountable for the chaos humans have created.
