First NY edition, although Parkes's "Chymical" Catechism was also published in Philadelphia in 1807 (quite a bit shorter). 8vo, old calf, good plus copy, solidly bound, some rubbing to binding, darkening to spine, light wear, title page has had old owner's name crudely torn from top edge, folding frontispiece of Woodhouse's laboratory with a two neatly repaired splits, text quite foxed throughout. 559 (1) pp, folding frontispiece and one vignette engraving. The work is lauded for its lyrical descriptions of chemical processes.
