Among these positions were the University of New Hampshire, New England College and most recently, Colby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire. An active artist and an avid museum-goer, he has been able with several sabbaticals to visit the major art galleries and museums of Western Europe as well as many of those in the United States. Other enjoyments include appreciating classic Chinese ceramics, reading the light verse of Ogden Nash and Hilaire Belloc and delighting in the remarkable genius of Lewis Carroll. Aware of his failings, he tries hard to minimize the apoplexy he gives his bridge partners.
