Everything you always wanted to know about Utopia
The Cambridge Companions are a great series of helpful books that offer a number of well-written essays on different aspects of a genre or author, in this case about Utopian literature.
The 11 essays are divided into two larger parts, History and Literature. The first part explains the concept of Utopia, provides insights into Thomas More's famous book, describes its impact and the development of Utopian and Dystopian Literature until the 20th century.
The second part takes a closer look at Utopian novels and their relationship to different aspects such as feminism, ecology, romance or post-colonialism.
Granted, there are some repetitions in these essays and some of the essays of the second part appear to be less focussed, but the whole book is a good starting point for getting a better understanding of Utopian literature.
Highly recommended, if you are interested in this genre.
