The Corvey Collection comprises one of the most important collections of Romantic era writing in existence anywhere -- including fiction, short prose, dramatic works, poetry, and more -- with a focus on especially difficult-to-find works by lesser-known, historically neglected writers. The Corvey library was built during the last half of the 19th century by Victor and his wife Elise, both bibliophiles with varied interests. First edition of the author's first recognized published work, preceded only by the surpressed 1821 "Improvisitore". vii+ 130 pp. bound in later brown half calf over marbled paper covered boards, spine lettered in gilt. Title page and first leaf of text with atchival restoration to the top portions, not affecting the text. Some scuffing to the spine strip and spne extremities. This drama in blank verse was written while Beddoes was still a student at Pembroke College, Oxford (so noted on the title page).
