Seller's Description:

The reason I like t his book so much is that I am from New England and never had found a cookbook with all the recipes that would allow me to cook the dishes I remember from childhood but that I couldn't reproduce on my own. These were the dishes cooked by my mother, her mother, my aunts, their mothers, friends of the family, neighbors, and kissing cousins.
Mararet Deeds Murphy's recipes use straight-forward ingredients and straight-forward preparation. Water is the stock for most soups but canned stock or homemade bouillion can be used.. No fluff, no puff, just good-tasting food that generations of New Englanders have grown up on and have eaten all their lives. We love it, others may, also, but don't expect Nouvelle cuisine or glamour food. This is delicious, plain, recognizable.
