Excellent history of a very tumultuos time in American history. The story of the Oatman family especially Olive is a fascinating insight into a closed culture. A culture that is very misunderstood by the average citizen. I do however feel that Mifflin is covering up or holding back certain facts of Olive's experience either to protect her memory or to perpetuate the "innocence" of the Mormon church.
