Fair. In only fair condition with considerable age-related wear; deep-green boards and red quarter binding are worn, scraped, and discolored, with rubbed and worn edges, and the top inch of the spine covering is missing; top page edges gilt; dark brown endpapers in good condition with small inventory sticker at rear; previous owner's name and short inscription on half-title page; mild, sporadic gutter paper tearing at title page, and an ex-libris sticker (with a second previous owner's name) opposite title page; illustrated by various artists, with all pictures tissue-protected (some tissues have light staining and some are loose, but all are present); some soiling on last (and facing) page of book; otherwise, text pages appear to be clean and unmarked except for the odd smudge here and there; 62 pages; Glasgow: Printed for Private Circulation, 1869; aesthetically-challenged and rather age-fragile, but a serviceable reading/research copy of this classic work by Turnbull; "The impression has been limited to one hundred and fifty copies 8vo, and fifty 4vo two of the former being on vellum."
