And while acknowledging Obligations to helpers, I wish especially to name the valuable service which my life long friend and fellow-labourer, the Rev. Dr. Turner, has rendered in editing the work as it has passed through the press, and which is the third service of the kind which he and Mrs. Turner have rendered me within a few years. To them therefore I owe a very large debt of gratitude. May the Master whom we serve amply recompense them. And to another esteemed brother, the Rev. S. M. Creagh, I am also under special obligations. He, in addition to furnishing information relative to translation work on the Loyalty Islands, has read over the manuscript with me, and in that way has rendered very valuable help.
