If you are a fan of Barbara Pym, then you'll probably like this tribute to her. This book shares real recipes and anecdotes and the context in which the dish was served. I'd read elsewhere that this was a shameless grab on the back of Barbara's fame. That is not so. I think it illustrates something about the author's life, and how cooking fit into it. There is more there to absorb. A sweet book that renders the mysteries of spotted dick and bubble and squeak harmless.
