This book is packed with easy to understand information. It's concerned primarily with converting your backyard to be a safe haven for birds. I felt a bit like I was supposed to call in a construction crew and a landscaper to come over and rip out everything & start all over according to the birds' wishes ! Sheesh ! I certainly want to be accommodating, but not to *that* point !! So here's the kinds of trees & shrubs they like, and here's the best layout to plant them, & oh yeah, don't forget to add the pond to the layout over there. The best part of the book to me is the chart of "How to put the right house for the right bird in the right place". Unfortunately, it only lists 20 birds. Photos are black & white, with a small portion of color photos in the middle of the book. Overall the book is certainly informative, but someone has to tell this (very good) author that we all can't re-landscape to suit the Red Headed Woodpecker.
